This week on The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show - classic Simpons trivia covering only episodes from the 90’s! The hosts of Classic Simpsons Trivia Night in Brooklyn put together a quiz, and I gathered the biggest Simpsons fans I know to see who could answer the most questions. Things like…

  • Why does Mr. Burns hate donuts?
  • Whose photo did Bart send to Mrs. Krabappel in response to her dating ad?
  • What do bee stings cause Smithers to do?

This week on The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show, Paul Scheer and I discuss our shared passion for watching terrible movies. Paul talks about how he picks movies for his How Did This Get Made podcast, buying bootlegs at Star Trek conventions when he was a kid, and which bad movies influenced his Adult Swim series NTSF:SD:SUV. It’s a good one.
Speaking of which, NTSF has it’s second season premiere Thursday. I’ve seen the first episode and it’s hilarious. Definitely check it out if you’re a fan of Paul or making fun of bad movies.
The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show comes out Tuesdays and is available iTunes, YouTube, and JeffRubinJeffRubinShow.com.

Jeff’s podcast is always great, but today’s has a particularly cool guest!

Was Andrew WK replaced by an imposter? Is Jay-Z in the Illuminati? Are there antisemitic messages coded into Windows 3.1? All is revealed on this week’s Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show, as Pat and I present and analyze our favorite pop-culture conspiracy theories.
Warning: if you are content with your current life and believe ignorance is bliss, do NOT listen to this episode. Pat and I pull back the curtain, and there is no unknowing the secrets that are revealed. We also discuss The Oogieloves Big Balloon Adventure.

“There is no word for ‘book’ in Dothraki. The reason is culturally dependent. It’s mentioned specifically in [Game of Thrones] that the Dothraki have no written form for their language… If you coin a word and say, ‘This is the Dothraki word for book,’ it implies that the Dothraki have some sort of printing process and regular interaction with books. It implies they have some form of writing, that they have invented paper, that there’s scholarship, and that there’s publishing. It brings along all this cultural baggage… so you have to keep all of that in mind when coining words for a language.”

- David Peterson, creator of the Dothraki language from Game of Thrones and guest on this week’s Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show

This episode is certified spoiler free, and can be enjoyed even if you’re completely unfamiliar with the Game of Thrones franchise.

It is also one of my favorite Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Shows yet. David is my ideal guest - a really intelligent person who took their nerdy passion to unprecedented depths and is now harnessing it to create something amazing. Even if you never conciously registered that the Dothraki speak a working language, it’s that attention to detail that adds up to make Game of Thrones one of the most immersive shows on TV.

If you enjoy this episode, I would love it if you told your friends about it with a reblog, leaving a review on iTunes, or shouting in their ear as loud as you possibly can.

As always, The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show comes out Tuesdays and is available on YouTubeiTunes, and JeffRubinJeffRubinShow.com.

This is awesome, whether you’re a GoT fan or not.

The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show is my new podcast. It’s interviews you didn’t know you wanted to hear about the stuff you didn’t know you cared about.
Our first guest is Peter Berkman who plays guitar and Nintendo for 8-bit rockband Anamanaguchi. Here he talks about what that means, how they do it, and what it was like to work on the soundtrack for the Scott Pilgrim videogame.
There are two versions of the show:
The enhanced version includes pictures and links, but only works on iPods, iPhones, iTunes, etc. It’s in the iTunes store (if you’re looking later and the link isn’t handy, you can also just search the iTunes store for “Jeff Rubin”.)
The regular version, which works everywhere, is at JeffRubinJeffRubinShow.com
New episodes every Tuesday. Subscribe and a review in the iTunes store.
