CollegeHumor Exclusive: "Weird Al" Yankovic Music Video: FOIL (Parody of "Royals" by Lorde)

Like any budding comedy lovers with a boom box or basic cable, we grew up loving Weird Al Yankovic. So when he asked us to help him make the music video for “Foil” (a parody of “Royals”) off Al’s new album, Mandatory Fun, we agreed. Actually, we high-fived each other, threw up from excitement, composed ourselves and agreed.

Over a few marvelous weeks in February and March, our writers and producers worked with Al to bring his “Foil” video to life. Here is the result in all its Yankovician magnificence, featuring cameos from Patton Oswalt, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, as well as CH alumni Elaine Carroll and Andrée Vermeulen.

See behind-the-scenes photos here.

The Star Wars Cantina Band Auditions

We partnered with Lucasfilm and YouTube on a trip back to Tatooine’s favorite hive of scum and villainy. Featuring in order Chris Daughtry, Ben Folds, Liz Phair, Reggie Watts, Mark McGrath, Jordin Sparks, Rick Springfield, Weird Al, Lisa Loeb, and mc chris.

Of course, with all these awesome performers, we have a lot of extra jokes. Like six videos worth of jokes. Watch to find out the real reason the cantina doesn’t serve droids, why the sand people are so chill, and how Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc.

“I saw Al as the future of comedy. It wasn’t just, ‘Here’s an interesting act that could sell a few records.”

– Jay Levey, Weird Al’s manager, on discovering Al

This week on The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show, my guest is Jay Levey, Weird Al’s manager for over 30 years. In addition to managing one of the most unique and successful artists in pop music history Jay, atypically for a manager, collaborated with his client creatively. He has directed many of Al’s music videos including Eat It and cowrote/directed the stone-cold classic UHF.

To say that Weird Al and by extension Jay are responsible for just me getting into comedy would probably undersell the influence they’ve had on my life. I had so much fun recording this episode, and I think anyone who has ever been into Weird Al (everyone reading this blog?) will enjoy it too. At the risk of hyperbole if you only ever listen to one Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show, it should be this one. You can get it at iTunesYouTube, and JeffRubinJeffRubinShow.com.

Next episode - I take off the first week of any month, but will return on October 9th with Justin Wong, one of the greatest fighting game players of all-time.

We’re big weird Al fans, so we think this week’s podcast is especially great!

Help us Squash Malaria!: Malarious

We here at CollegeHumor believe that Malaria f*cking sucks. And in honor of World Mosquito Day, we wanted to do something about it. So we got 30 funny celebrity friends to come by and make some ridiculous videos. (People like Rainn Wilson, Nick Offerman, Joss Wheden, Brooklyn Decker, Reggie Watts. Aubrey Plaza, Ben Schwartz, and more.)

All you have to do to watch all 24 videos is make a donation to Malaria No More.  Even if it’s just a $1. Seriously, even donating $1 would directly help treat a child for Malaria. And that’s a pretty awesome way to kick off your week.

If it’s not in your means to donate, you can still help! Just throwing this post a reblog or tweeting #malarious can help us spread the world about telling this disease to go f*ck itself.
