Today was supposed to mark the last day before the ban on the sale of large sugary drinks in New York took effect. It would have forbid the selling of 16 ounces or more in restaurants, movie theaters and food-service establishments. We think it had something to do with these added regulations that Bloomberg tried to slip in last minute. Here’s the full article.

“Back in highschool, I worked for a local movie theater. One night I was working concessions, when a woman walked up and asked for a “medium Coke.” When I handed it to her, she took a sip, stared and me blankly, and said,”This isn’t a Dr. Pepper!” When I politely reminded her that she had specifically asked for a Coke, she replied,”Well, you never asked me what KIND of Coke I wanted!” I have since learned that in Texas, “Coke” is used as an all-encompassing term for “soda.” Silly me for not knowing.”
More Specific Drink Regulations
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg raised eyebrows recently when he announced his intentions to place a city-wide ban on large sugared drinks, so we decided to come up with some other—and hopefully more helpful—ways we can control how people consume their beverages.
